Plans submitted to refurbish Holbeach Police Station
A South Holland police station could be getting a make-over if new plans are given the green light.
Lincolnshire Police has applied to South Holland District Council to refurbish Holbeach Police Station in Edinburgh Walk, which is no longer fit for purpose to house additional officers.
The force wants to replace the existing portable buildings with a single storey extension along with resurfacing the car park.
Holbeach Police Station is now being used more after it was decided to relocate officers responding to both 999 and 101 calls from Spalding Police Station in order to better spread the force’s resources.
The design and access statement says: “Holbeach Police Station currently accommodates additional staff and resources who have been partially relocated from the Spalding branch to spread resources more evenly across the district and to ensure a faster response time.
“The facility is in a poor condition and not fit for purpose to house the additional police services.
“The proposals will improve the layout and build quality of the facility, enabling Lincolnshire Police to operate more effectively.
“The external alterations and extensions will significantly enhance the appearance of the building and improve its identity within the local community.
“The alterations will make the building more accessible for staff and visitors. “
White and pastel blue rendered walls along with dark grey window frames are planned for the building’s exterior along a porch if the application is approved.
The statement adds: “A feature goalpost panel will be formed to the main entrance so that it is clearly identifiable and provides a clear sense of arrival for visitors.”
Inside, the existing locker room and circulation area could be converted into a kitchen with a link through the new staff room while the current PCSO office will become a locker room.
A new extension will accommodate the PSCO office, locker room and larger open plan office.
The existing car parking capacity will be retained.
