Residents speak out at Whaplode ‘nails in the road’ issue remains a mystery

A resident who had two damaged front tyres from nails deliberately left in a road thinks there is a pattern to the incidents.

Twice now nails have been strewn across Hagbeach Gate and Crowdyke Gate in Whaplode with one incident being reported to the police.

The first incident happened on August 4 and the second on September 4 and Dan Taylor whose car tyres needed to be replaced thinks there is a pattern to the dates.

He said: “The first time on August 4 Debby (Murfitt) had found nails and they wrecked my two front tyres.

On September 4, exactly a month after – nails are back again in the same spot.

“If it is to target one person it is affecting the whole road. It is a cut-through to Peterborough so it is not just us.”

Police have urged anyone with details to call 101.
