Spalding restaurant serves up treats for key workers and volunteers

On Thursday, key workers, volunteers and Spalding residents were paid a visit by Coun Manzur Hasan and his business partner Mroof Choudry, who delivered food parcels from their restaurant Rustic.

This isn't the first time the pair have taken it upon themselves to deliver more than 100 tasty treats across the town - and they intend to continue the special deliveries until lockdown is over.

Coun Hasan and Mr Choudry were joined by Coun Angela Newton and Coun Rob Gibson, who is a committee member for the Spalding and Pinchbeck COVID Kindness Team, who helped them to deliver the parcels.

Coun Newton, who is also president of the Johnson Hospital League of Friends, said: "Manzur and Mroof wanted to acknowledge some of the splendid work the staff at Johnson Community Hospital, Spalding Surgery, Knight Street Pharmacy in Pinchbeck and the Spalding and Pinchbeck COVID Kindness team are doing by providing hot meal for staff and volunteers."

The restaurant, on Winsover Road, has remained open during lockdown for deliveries only and opening hour have now been extended due to high demand.

Manzur said: "We have extended the opening hours because we have seen a great demand and have been very busy.

"We we want to be there for people when they need us, especially at this crucial time."

The restaurant is also offering NHS workers a 50% discount on their food bills.
