“It takes me back to my childhood!” Revellers react to Spalding Flower Parade
The return of the Spalding Flower Parade proved a hit with the crowds.
Hundreds lined the streets to cheer on the bright and beautiful floats that wowed the public.
The woodcutters of Long Sutton Men's Shed caught the eye for Liz Matthews, while Amy Machin also enjoyed the parade.
“It was very good and it takes me back to my childhood,” she said.
Jessie and Debbie Jeeves enjoyed the parade.
“I liked all the floats and all the flowers,” said Jessie.
Eileen Biggs enjoted the action with grandaughter Kodie.
“Everything was great,” said Eileen.
“I enjoyed the atmosphere as well.
“They did a good job and they can bring it back next year.”
It was an early start for Janet Taylor, who had travelled down on a coach tour from Sheffield.
She said: "I had never seen it before but wanted to come as it was something different."
Also giving the event the thumbs up were Gloria Papworth, her niece Sandra Aschettino and youngsters Macie and Nina.
“It was very beautiful,” Gloria told this paper.
“Sandra added: “The floats were very unusual and it was exceedingly well done.”
Peter and Gemma Zimmer-Smith along with their dog Daisy travelled from Peterborough to watch the parade.
They had been to watch previous parades until it ended a decade ago and were delighted to see it back.
Speaking after the parade Gemma said: "It was brilliant and amazing to see it back.
"We loved all the floats and the different floats.
"They have pulled it together brilliantly."
Margaret and Les Stott travelled from Leeds after learning that the parade was back on last night (Friday).
The couple were also regulars to the parade until it stopped and remember bringing their children when they were small. Their eldest daughter is now 50 years.
Margaret said: "I loved the parade. The floats were beautiful."
