REVIEW OF THE YEAR 2019: JANUARY

The year did not get off to a great start for shopkeepers Ranjit and Bill Khela after raiders targeted Costcutter Late Shopper in Spalding’s Holbeach Road. The ATM was ripped apart by a gas explosion, sending glass and metal flying, before four men escaped in a silver golf.

Spalding businessman Ian Haynes vowed to take South Holland District Council to court over street cleansing. Council leader Gary Porter stated that the council was going to spend more on its Pride campaign and was poised to start a clean-up.

Former secretary for the European Union of Dentists and Dental Practitioners, Derek Watson, warned that Spalding is unlikely to ever see another NHS dental surgery. He said dentists in rural areas were forced to operate at a loss with tight conditions.
