REVIEW OF THE YEAR: FEBRUARY




In February, clean-up campaigner Mark Douglass (44) launched a Facebook group for the Spalding area to stamp out fly-tipping. More than 130 people signed up and reported waste dumped in sites across the town.

The Lincolnshire Free Press kicked-off a campaign to raise £5,000 to buy a CCTV system for St Paul’s Community Primary School following a series of mindless attacks by vandals. We donated £500 from the Lincs Free Press Children’s Fund to set the ball rolling.

Plans to improve changing rooms at Carter’s Park in Holbeach were backed by town councillors. Holbeach United Football Club wanted to carry out work to give the changing rooms a revamp. Holbeach councillors supported the club’s plans along with a request to lengthen its lease.

Green Party Co-leader Jonathan Bartley spoke at the “Challenges facing Market Towns and Rural Economies” event in Spalding. He put forward a call for change.
