Daughters visit plane crash site

In October, Gill Akers and Sheila Reynolds, the twin daughters of hero pilot George Furniss, who sacrificed his life to save an unimaginable tragedy in Spalding, visited the spot where his Meteor VIII jet crashed more than 60 years ago..

Glass bottle, cigarette ends and a live rabbit were among the items found by volunteer litter pickers who have been tidying areas around Spalding. Megan Rangeley and her team rescued the domestic rabbit which had been living amongst the rubbish on South Drove Bank.

Improvements were promised to Spalding Railway Station following police being called to the site for the second incident in four weeks.
