Gas company apologises for Whaplode roadworks
Engineers have apologised for the roadworks which are creating long tailbacks around the Whaplode area.
Traffic lights have been in High Road, Whaplode, for most of this week while gas network, Cadent, repairs an integral valve, and these are due to be lifted next week.
However this has created long queues of traffic – stretching back as far as the Wignal’s Gate junction in Holbeach this morning.
A spokesperson for Cadent said: “Cadent engineers are currently carrying out essential work on an integral valve. The valve in question is used regularly to keep the gas flowing in the local area, and so upgrading the valve, and futureproofing it for generations to come is vital to keep homes and businesses warm in our network.
“Naturally, we understand the frustrations that the traffic restrictions are causing to road users and residents. Unfortunately, in order to allow our engineers to carry out the work as quickly, and as safely as possible, this is unavoidable, and I’d like to thank all of you for your patience and understanding.”
The works are due to finish on Tuesday next week.
