Man from Dyke near Bourne to fulfil lifelong dream by appearing in Australian soap Neighbours' final episode

A man has fulfilled a life-long dream after he secured a role in the final episode of Australian soap Neighbours.

Jack Seymour will appear as an extra in The Waterhole pub and in his scenes appears alongside a number of famous characters, including Susan and Karl Kennedy, Paul Robinson and Harold Bishop.

“I was so happy when I was cast,” said Jack, who was speaking from his home in Melbourne.

“I have watched the show my whole life and it was just the best experience.”

Jack, from Dyke, near Bourne, is on the books of an extras agency in Australia, having first travelled Down Under in 2013.

He has also appeared in the Australian series Bloom, and in the Netflix hit series Clickbait, but long-dreamed of being an extra on Neighbours.

Some of his Australian friends had already appeared on the show and encouraged Jack to try again when he didn’t make the cut at first.

After attempting to get on the show three times through his agency, Jack decided to take matters into his own hands and wrote a letter to the casting director.

The next day, he received a call inviting him to filming the following week.

Despite having grown up with some chilly winters in Bourne, Jack recounts his experience on the Neighbours set as rather cold.

“Everyone assumes it is really warm in Ramsey Street but it’s winter in Australia at the moment,” he said.

“All the cast wore really big coats between filming - it was so cold.

“I filmed one of my scenes in The Waterhole and it was so strange because it felt like an actual pub. You wouldn’t be able to tell it was a set, at first glance.

“You wouldn’t want to eat any of the food though. It is all super-old!”

As well as being in the pub, Jack is an extra at a wedding involving some of the main stars, whose identities are yet to be revealed.

Although he could not take photos on set, Jack managed to take a few sneaky selfies in front of Harold’s Café.

“All of the casting crew and directors are so lovely and everyone just comes and has a chat with you which is really nice,” he said.

“I had already met some of them on the streets from just living in

Melbourne.”

Although Jack has not returned to the United Kingdom since 2018 due to various issues and the pandemic, he is planning a two-week return to catch up with friends and family in August.

The final episode of Neighbours will air on Monday, August 1 in the UK, on Channel 5.
