New premises for The Beauty Room in Spalding
Staff at a beauty salon celebrated moving into their new premises last week - and their owner is enjoying proving her doubters wrong.
The Beauty Room in Spalding has taken up residence at 24 Hall Place after spending just under eight years on Victoria Street.
The new doors were thrown open last Thursday afternoon, with staff welcoming clients for an opening ceremony.
Owner Louise O’Connor and her team offer a range of services including nails, pedicures, massages, facials, laser hair removal and skin care treatments.
“We’re very glad to be open,” she said.
“We’re relieved. I can’t believe that we’re open, but it’s definitely good.
“It was stressful as we had 17 days to do it. We closed down on December 23 and got the keys the day after Boxing Day, so we’ve done a lot of work in a short period of time.”
Despite The Beauty Room’s recent success, it hasn’t always been smooth sailing for Louise - and it took a while before she even entered the industry.
“I never wanted to go into beauty, and my teacher told me I would never succeed in beauty because I wasn’t beautiful,” she said.
“So I did this as a bit of a sideliner, and I wanted to be a midwife. I had a complete change of career, did this and fell in love with it.
“I’ve always strived to have my own business and succeed. I’m very driven.
“Then I thought I’d open my own place and just keep growing and growing.”
The Salon’s move across town had always been in the pipeline for Louise and her team.
“Before Covid we were quite a small team, but we’re just getting bigger and bigger and demand just got so high, so we said that we wanted to expand,” she added.
“We’re really, really excited because we’ve still got bigger and better plans.
“We’re still learning, still growing and adding new treatments, and expanding - so the future is very exciting.”
