Saracen's Head man caught with cocaine

Buying a £40 wrap of cocaine landed a bricklayer with a £525 court bill.

Joshua Callis was searched by police after being ejected from a nightclub, King’s Lynn Magistrates’ Court heard on Monday.

He was found to have 0.9 grammes of cocaine and told police that he had paid £40 for it.

Callis (24), of Sluice Road, Saracen’s Head, Holbeach, pleaded guilty to possession of a controlled class A drug on November 3.

He told the court he was on a night out with friends from Leicester and decided to buy the drug, which was “silly”.

Chairman of the bench, John Hare, told Callis: “Your so-called fresh start after moving from Leicester hasn’t got off a to great start, has it? You obviously don’t hold the law in great regard.”

Callis was fined £400 and ordered to pay £85 costs and £40 victim surcharge.
