Safety improvements due around William Stukeley and University Academy Holbeach – plus changes planned to Market Hill traffic lights




Road safety improvements look likely to be happen around two schools – along with changes to the town’s traffic lights.

Lincolnshire county councillor Tracey Carter reported to Holbeach Parish Council that the traffic lights in Market Hill will be upgraded in the summer and will be slightly remodelled.

She also stated that improvements are also due to happen around the William Stukeley Primary School,pictured right, and University Academy Holbeach to tackle road safety concerns.

Speaking at Monday’s meeting Coun Carter said: “It looks like I am going to be successful in getting a school safety zone outside the William Stukeley Primary School. It looks like this will approved and going ahead.

“With regards to new lines touside UAH (University Academy Holbeach) and Market Rasen Way. The TRO (Traffic Regulation Order) legislation document will be published in the next week or so that will be implemented.

“We need to remodel the traffic lights at Market Hill. This is being done during the evenings to minimise disruption.”

The council is also going to ask for the police to take enforcement action in High Street to prevent parking in the area.

l The parish council is also a step closer to replacing the slide in Carter’s Park.

The council had previously had to remove a replacement slide but the council is looking to purchase a new one.

l Councillors are also going to look again at plans to install a ‘Post Box to Heaven’.

l Holbeach Parish Council is working with South Holland District Council to create a changing place toilet, which is suitable for wheelchair users and their carers. A similar toilet has been installed in Ayscoughfee Gardens in Spalding.

The district council is now looking at creating the facility by altering a disused changing room at Carter’s Park.
