Hot rods in Holbeach as sun shines on car show
Mean machines and brilliant sunshine brought out the families to enjoy a town’s first car show.
Holbeach Parish Council was delighted with the response to its first car show which was held on the Boston Road Car Park on Sunday.
An estimated 1,000 people are thought to have enjoyed looking around the variety of cars along with enjoying the sounds of the McCurdy Brothers in nearby Carter’s Park.
One of the people behind the event was Coun Isobel Hutchinson. She said: “It was a fantastic day and really busy.
“We want to make it bigger and better next year.”
Classic cars, American vehicles and modern modified cars were among the vehicles on display.
Coun Hutchinson said: “We were booked out within a week of advertising the show and we had exhibitors on a waiting list.”
Brian Ashley and his Chevy Belair won the best classic car, while Russell Cook and his Ford Model ‘A’ Hot Rod were awarded the best modified car. But Best in Show went to James Bostock and his Mini MK1 (Austin 7).
Royals Gym also put on a strong man display by pulling a vehicle.
The cars also held a parade around the town.
