Sutton Bridge RAF memorial service
A memorial service took place to give thanks to the former RAF base at Sutton Bridge and remember those who lost their lives in wartime.
The service for the former RAF station in Sutton Bridge took place at St Matthews Church in the village.
It is known as the Propeller Service, after the monument of the propeller near the Cross Keys Bridge.
Revd Paul Carery-Slater has recently been appointed priest in charge at St Matthews and he said: “I am new to the area and it was a real privilege to lead the service and be involved.
“It was really good to gather together and remembering is important. It was a beautiful day too so the weather helped. People value being back in that way and it was a good turn out.
“Active remembrance and thanksgiving is part of the service and representatives from the RAF base nearby joined in.”
