Seventh combine harvester fire in a week
Spalding firefighters attended a combine harvester blaze in Crowland on Saturday morning.
There was severe fire damage to a quarter of a tonne of grain within the harvester in a field at Postland Road.
The blaze, at 9.23am, was extinguished using one hose reel and two drags. It was caused by residual heat
PREVIOUSLY: Firefighters tackled two more combine harvester fires yesterday (Wednesday) evening, making it six in three days.
At 7.48pm crews from Crowland and Spalding tackled a blaze involving a combine harvester and 200sqm of straw stubble.
They used used two hose reels, one main jet and beaters to extinguish the fire, which was caused by a fault within the harvester.
Later, at 9.25pm, crews from Donington and Spalding responded to reports of a harvester on fire near a wheat field on North Drove, Quadring Fen.
There was fire damage to a small quantity of chaff and straw within the engine compartment. Crews used one hose reel to extinguish.
The incident followed a combine harvester fire earlier on Wednesday in Donington and one in Moulton Seas End on Tuesday and Surfleet on Monday.
