Cowbit A16 bypass collision - several people taken to hospital
A two-vehicle collision on the A16 in Cowbit left a number of people needing hospital treatment, police have confirmed today.
It happened near the turn-off for Mill Drove North where a black Audi A3 and a grey BMW estate were in collision shortly after 4.40pm.
A Lincolnshire Police spokesman said that the driver of the BMW was taken to Peterborough City Hospital, while the occupants of the Audi were taken to Boston's Pilgrim Hospital.
It is not known how serious their injuries were, but a Lincolnshire Fire and Rescue spokesman confirmed that the door of one of the cars had to be removed to free one of them.
The spokesman said: "A crew from Spalding and a crew from Crowland attended and used cutting equipment to remove the door and extricate one casualty.
"They also provided casualty care to a total of three casualties and left the scene at 6.04pm."
The road was closed for more than two hours and eventually reopened at 7.15pm.
