Olympic rower Morgan Bolding opens new Holbeach Aldi
Scores of people had an early start this morning to ensure that they were among the first to shop in a new supermarket.
The grand opening of Aldi in Fleet Street, in Holbeach, brought out the crowds who were eager to have a look around a long-awaited store - along with meeting Olympic athlete Morgan Bolding.
The rowing star - who was wearing his medal - officially opened the store along with having his photograph taken with shoppers.
Morgan said: “It has been lovely as it’s six months after the games and to see so many people excited about the Olympics was fantastic to see.
“It’s heartwarming to see.”
Aldi has spent months transforming a former South Holland District Council depot site into a plush new store - which created more than 30 jobs.
The old warehouse has been knocked down to make way for a large car park and store.
Shoppers were enjoying browsing around the different sections of the store including the green grocery section, bakery and refrigerated zones.
Not to forget the famous Aldi middle aisle.
The store was also giving away a number of goodie bags to the first 50 shoppers.
