Sizzler of a show at Long Sutton
The return of show jumping was one of the highlights as crowds turned out for Sunday's Horse and Pony Show at Long Sutton.
Cinder Ash Park was bathed in sunshine as equine and canine competed for the honours in the popular horse, pony and dog classes.
More than 1,000 people attended to watch the competitions or simply soak up the sun and enjoy the family atmosphere.
Lisa Kerwood, one of the organisers, said: "It was fabulous.
"We had lots of public come, which was lovely, and there were definitely more people than last year."
Star performers came in all shapes and sizes, not least French Bulldog Brie who completed the dog scurry in four seconds.
Leanne Kerry and her mount took the ridden championship while Emma Message and her horse claimed the reserve championship.
Across the show, there were scores of prizes and winners included Meghan Waring, who claimed first spot in a ridden class, Ceilia Dobson, who won the traditional in hand, and Hannah Ward and her mount, Queenie, who took a best combination prize.
There were two 'have a go' jumping classes (any height) as well as 50cm, 60cm and 70cm classes.
Holly Deckland was among the show jumping prize winners.
Among the stalls getting the public's attention were one dedicated to gin and prosecco and another to pizza.
Lisa said: "We had really good feedback this year.
"Everybody said they had a really lovely day and it was really good."
Lisa says the return of show jumping was a popular move and the organisers hope to build on that for 2019.
"Next year, we are thinking about maybe gymkhana, something a bit more fun," she said.
The Long Sutton Horse and Pony Show has been in existence since the post WW2 period.
In its early years, the show was held over two days and attracted some famous names.
