Spalding engineering company appoints world silver medallist water skier as its managing director
A business has announced a world silver medallist as its new managing director.
Formerly the general manager, Glenn Campbell has now become the managing director of Town & County Engineering Services, based in Spalding.
Glenn has worked for the business for almost 28 years, with 10 of those years being the general manager.
After finishing school Glenn worked at the business over the summer helping his dad, who owned the business before it was sold to the Axel Johnson PTS group in 2017.
Working at Town & County allowed Glen the flexibility to explore his career as a water skier, where from 1998 to 2008 Glenn won multiple awards and was he 2005 water ski world silver medallist.
He said: “I was also able to work remotely so that I could still help out, so technology was quite helpful even back in the day.”
Glenn said: “My dad was the branch manager of town and county branches when it first moved over to Spalding.
“He was the branch manager and there was only two or three people, then in 1976 he bought the branch back and it became Town and County Engineering Services.”
In 2017 the company was sold to Axel Johnson, a company that builds and develops trade and service businesses.
Glenn added: “I think I’m lucky to be part of a group of companies as I feel within my gut that being part of a group has a lot of benefits, not just for us but our customers too.”
Town & County now has almost 20 employees, and Glenn hopes to expand the company.
He said: “Town & County sit under the Acorn Group in the UK and we will be looking to expand our Town & County brand. Whether it be by acquisition or by opening new facilities yet to be decided based on the opportunities we come across.”
