Bikers put a smile on Long Sutton care home residents faces in time for Fathers Day
A care home worker spoke of his delight at seeing ‘smiles on faces I’ve never seen smile before’ after a motorbike event that aimed to bring joy to residents.
A total of 45 motorbikes propelled their way down to Kimberly Care Home in Long Sutton last Saturday in a ride that was the brainchild of the care home’s head of maintainance Andy Clarke.
He said the event cheered residents up just in time for Father’s Day, which was the following day.
Andy said: “It all went really well, the residents absolutely loved it.
“We had 45, not quite the amount we said originally but it was a lovely amount.”
Andy is a biker himself and wanted to do something to give residents who can’t get out on their motorbikes something to enjoy.
He said: “It was absolutely brilliant, it bought back a lot of memories for those of them who used to ride bikes.
“I saw smiles on residents faces I’ve never seen smile before.”
Andy hopes to organise another bike ride at a later date.
He added: “I was amazed with the amount of support I did get, even since then a few of them have messaged me to say that they’d love to do it again.
“They just thought it was amazing to see the way the residents reacted.
“The staff and the residents were all really thankful for what happened and I’d love to thank all the bikers that came personally.”
