Fayre gave me the best Father’s Day present ever
This is just a few lines to let your readers know just how much my son and myself enjoyed our day at the Holbeach Town and Country Fayre.
The day, as you may remember, was Father’s Day and my son Mark took me. I used to be an HGV driver before retiring last year and my son knows just how much I enjoy going to these sort of events.
I cannot tell your readers how much I enjoyed the time that we spent at the fayre, which had everything - very good stewarding, very good parking area, very good food (fresh and very well cooked) which was fairly priced, a very good turn-out of commercial vehicles, some of which I had not seen before.
There were tractors of all makes, shapes and sizes, vintage and classic motor cars and classic motorbikes. There were stalls aplenty selling various things things for everyone, there was even a sheep shearing demonstration. The craft tent was stocked full of things too.
We had driven down from the Birmingham area so we did not use the beer tent but we both noticed prices were both reasonable.
Please may I also thank the firm involved for the toilets on site - they were fantastic.
Yes, I had the best Father’s Day present ever. I really enjoyed the day so much so we left it as late as possible to leave. So if I may just say a big ‘thank you’ to everyone concerned with putting this event on.

Thought for the Week
On the occasion of the memorial service for Stephen Hawking (June 15) it was announced that his voice would be beamed into space. And I wondered, would the sound diminish with time and distance? Or might his voice be heard by someone or something at some time in the distant future far far away?
Back on earth, there are many voices that have come to us from the distant past. One of them is that of Jesus Christ. He never kept a diary, sent a text or posted a blog. Despite that, nothing else in all history has affected the life of mankind on earth as powerfully as that one solitary life.
In part that’s because there were those who did record his words. Not everything, but as one of them said: “These are written that you may believe that Jesus is the Messiah, the Son of God, and that by believing you may have life in his name.”
That, and what was recorded concerning Jesus can be found in The Bible. It’s a book worth reading. And the voice of Jesus might just affect your life, too.
