Man from Spalding admits to stealing loudspeaker from car boot during case at Boston Magistrates Court
A man from Spalding who stole a loudspeaker from a car has told magistrates that "I let myself down".
Peter Evans (35), of The Meadows, was given a six-month conditional discharge by Boston magistrates yesterday (Wednesday) after admitting to theft.
Jim Clare, prosecuting, told the court that Evans stole the loudspeaker from the boot of a car while its owner was clearing out their garage and putting items into the open boot.
Magistrates heard that the speaker was worth £30, but was on offer for £20 on social media.
Mr Clare confirmed that Evans had a number of convictions for dishonesty, the most recent being in 2017.
Evans, who was not represented, said he had been trying to stay out of trouble but "on the day, I let myself down".
As well as being conditionally discharged for six months, Evans was also told to pay total costs of £60 and £30 in compensation to the loudspeaker's owner.
