Price slashed in bid to find buyer for historic Spalding pub
The historic Lincolnshire Poacher pub in Spalding is up for sale - and the price has been reduced in the search to find a buyer.
We reported in February how the pub, in Double Street, had closed suddenly - less than two years after a £100,000 refurbishment.
But the doors reopened again shortly afterwards as fresh tenants moved in and advertised it as running under new management.
Recently, the pub has been running Northern soul and Motown nights on Saturdays which are said to have attracted new customers.
However, the building is now on the market for £299,995, after being reduced from its original asking price of £325,000 at the end of April.
A spokesperson for Cambridge-based commercial property agents Everard Cole, who are marketing the building, said: “The Lincolnshire Poacher is a fantastic site and occupies a superb position bordering the River Welland.
"We have recently reduced the asking price and are now seeking offers in the region of £299,995 (excluding VAT).
"This represents an excellent opportunity to purchase an historic site in Spalding and we hope to conclude a sale swiftly."
The pub has a rich history, originally built as a 17th century inn and was at one time known as The Crane.
Previous owners were Holbeach couple Toni Measures and Kieran Dokuyucu who turned it into a venue for live music, quiz nights and parties.
When they took over the pub from David Higgins and Caroline Melville in September 2015, their hopes were “to get this place lively, get it moving, get it nice and vibrant and see people coming in”, according to Kieran.
In June 2016, the pub was renovated in keeping with its exposed brick walls and log beams, alongside new signs, windows and benches in the Lincolnshire Poacher’s beer garden.
