Local good causes were the big winners when the Rotary Club of Spalding and Welland staged the latest in their series of fun quizzes.

The event was held at St Norbert's Roman Catholic Church Hall, in St Thomas's Road, Spalding, and raised £450

Rotarian Peter Atkinson said the proceeds will go to the club's own charity "to give help to local organisations in need of support".

Some 60 people attended to answer questions in teams, and the winners were Escape from Dave with Here We Go Again claiming the runners-up spot.

Barry Elliott took on his usual role as question master and, with his wife Susanna, generously provided baked potatoes to sustain the quizzers on the night.

A raffle was also held to boost the cash made for the good causes.

Peter said: "The Rotary club would like to thank all players and sponsors for their kind support."

Quizzers keen to have another fun night out don't have too long to wait because the club already has a date in the diary for the next event.

It will be staged at the same venue on Thursday, September 6.

Tickets, as usual, will be available nearer the time from outfitters J F Inkley in The Crescent, Spalding.
