Around 200 sixth formers from Spalding High School and Spalding Grammar School were dressed up to the nines for their leavers' ball at Springfields.

Students enjoyed drinks on arrival, a three course meal and dancing before a wonderful fireworks finale.

Emily Bateman, head of the events committee at Spalding High, said the ball was organised jointly by the schools.

Both schools had a hand in choosing the music for the fireworks and opted for Bonfire by The Hunna.

Emily said: "It just meant something to both schools."

She said students have their own friendship groups but the ball was an opportunity for all of the students to meet under one roof.

"It was just such a nice atmosphere because, literally, everyone got along so well," said Emily. "It was really nice having an opportunity just to socialise and to get to know more people."

Students are starting exams next week and Emily said the ball was a welcome opportunity to relax and take a little time out from studying.
