Spalding Young People's Learning Provision carries on at 'unsettling time'
A centre in Spalding that provides alternative education for young people with learning needs and disabilities is continuing during the coronavirus crisis.
Spalding YPLP (Young People's Learning Provision), based at Broadgate House, off Westlode Street, is running face-to-face session four days a week for those aged 16-24 who are considered to be "vulnerable learners".
The sessions, which include English and maths, employability skills, personal and social development, are designed to prepare the young people at the centre for work, adulthood and independence.
YPLP team leader Emma Bird said: "We are grateful for all our frontline workers who are still going on site to provide face-to-face support for our learners.
"All staff are working hard to ensure that our learners still feel supported and are able to continue making progress.
"It is key to some of our learners that we provide continuity and consistency in this unsettling time.
"We are also grateful to Rumblings, in Spalding, who have been delivering the Free Further Education Meals to the site for learners.
"The only element of our programme that we are unable to continue running at this moment in time is work experience.
"Once we are able to, this will recommence with the support of fantastic employers who offer our young people these valuable opportunities."
