Spalding and Sutton St James students enjoy sporting fun

Youngsters were treated to a day of fun and games for a good cause.

The students at Sutton St James Primary School and Spalding Academy ditched their uniforms and enjoyed several activities throughout the day as part of nationwide charity event Sport Relief on Friday last week.

At Sutton St James Primary School each class took part in workshops from Sport2Day where they try their hands at archery and Snag ball.

While during lunchtime, the youngsters enjoyed shot put and basketball which was organised by the school council.

Earlier in the week the children were also given the opportunity to test out some yoga in workshops given by Elite Sports.

The school raised a total of £106.40p for Sports Relief through swapping school uniforms in favour of sports wear.

Meanwhile, at Spalding Academy staff and students raised approximately £1,000 by running a cake stall, penalty shoot-out, dance-a-thon and inflatable obstacle course over lunch.

Everyone also sported non-uniform for the day.

Amanda Halifax, of Spalding Academy, said: "The school has, once again, produced an excellent day for students to help raise money for Sports Relief."

She continued: "Heads of House and students supported the day by running the stalls and events.

"Thanks go to Sainsbury’s for their continual support of contributing items for the cake stall."
