Spalding Flower Parade Ambassador is Star Perry from Weston Hills

The faces of the long awaited revived Spalding Flower Parade were selected at a glittering ceremony.

Star Perry (19), from Weston Hills, was named as the 2023 South Holland Ambassador as the judging took place in Spalding on Sunday.

A selection of hopeful candidates took to the stage at the South Holland Centre but Star shone brightly enough to take the top role.

She was joined by Holly Kendrick (20), from Spalding, who was named as deputy.

The two ambassadors will hold a similar role to the Tulip and Flower Queens of years gone-by, not just playing a part in the parade on May 13, but also representing the area at events over the next 12 months.

Parade organiser Stephen Timewell says he was glad he didn’t have to make the difficult decision to pick a winner.

“I’m very pleased with the result,” he said.

“I’m also very glad I wasn’t a judge as they had a very difficult job to do - all of the girls were wonderful.

“Star is a lovely girl and I think she will settle into the role well - it’s a huge role to take on.

“I think Holly will be a great deputy as well.

“They will be a big part of the parade and will meet people in the arena before and after.”

Steve is hopeful that the ambassadors will pay a visit to Jersey’s Battle of Flowers in August.
