Star Wars and Willow actor Willie Coppen among visitors to Fleet Hargate Summer Fete

Visitors flocked to this weekend’s Fleet Summer Fete… including one from a galaxy far, far away.

Actors Willie Coppen – best known for his roles as an ewok in Star Wars: Return of the Jedi and his appearance in movie Willow – and George Coppen (Disney’s Artemis Foul) were special guests at Sunday’s event.

Classic cars, craft stalls, football and car boot stalls were also amongst the attractions at the event, put on by Fleet Parish Council.

Youngsters were catered for with free bouncy castle and games, plus ice cream, while music came courtesy of the Holbeach Town Band.

“It was an excellent day, our first annual fete, if you like,” said parish council chairman Paul Barnes, hoping the event can follow on from the success of last year’s Jubilee celebrations to become a regular village fixture.

“We were delighted with the turnout and so nice to see so many people from the community there.

“We were absolutely delighted with the Holbeach ATC who came to assist, provide refreshments and helped with car parking.

“Nothing was too muchtrouble for them, an excellent bunch of people.”
