Stars of Doctor Who, Vikings: Valhalla, Star Wars, Harry Potter and the Marvel Universe confirmed guests at Sutton Bridge Comicon… which has had to expand due to demand

Stars of sci-fi spectaculars such as Doctor Who, Star Wars and Harry Potter will be rubbing shoulders with the public at a brand new comicon event – which has received so much interest it has had to add a second venue.

Organiser Adam Landy described the response to the inaugural Sutton Bridge Comicon, which will be based at the Curlew Centre, as ‘crazy’ as the public and traders have shown a huge interest in his event.

Fans of genres such as science fiction, superheroes, Anime and horror will be in for a treat at October’s extravaganza, which will offer the opportunity to meet and greet actors from some of the planet’s biggest-grossing movie franchises, have photos taken with the many cosplay characters walking the hall and check out the many exciting memorabilia stalls.

“The event has continued to grow exponentially,” said Adam, who is putting on the show with wife Melissa.

“We have now secured a second venue, which will be the Sutton Bridge Constitutional Club, which is directly opposite the Curlew Centre on Bridge Road.

“We are immensely grateful to the club for their hospitality and being our main provider of soft and alcoholic beverages on the day.

“We will be splitting traders and activities across the two sites to ensure there is plenty to see and do in both venues. “

Julian Seager, who has featured in Marvel films, as well as starring in Doc Martin and Vikings: Valhalla, is among the confirmed guests.

Also in attendance will be the Baker family, who have various credits on the big and small screens.

Dad Malcolm, a former Saracens rugby player who is currently playing Sir Tristan Leaky in the BC’s Sister Boniface Mysteries and is filming the 7th Man alongside Larry Lamb, has previously appeared in Doctor Who, Casualty, Doctors and Jerk.

Mum Amy has also appeared in Doctor Who, as have eight-year-old Lily and Toby (10).

Nick Joseph (Star Wars Episode IV, Doctor Who and the Spy Who Loved Me) has also been confirmed.

Previously announced to be in attendance will be seven-foot-tall Ross Sambridge – a Star Wars regular who played a wookie in Solo and was the body double for Supreme Leader Snoke in The Last Jedi – Clem So (Star Wars, Justice League, Jurassic World: Fallen Kingdom, Fantastic Beasts: The Crimes of Grindelwald, Skyfall) and Martin Ballantyne (Indiana Jones and the Dial of Destiny, Jason Bourne, Harry Potter and the Half-Blood Prince, Pirates of the Caribbean: Dead Men Tell No Tales).

“We have prop vehicles outside, photo props indoors, we will have a pizza truck, a slushy stand and a crepe van on the day to provide food, alongside Pippa's Pantry and the Anchor Inn up the road which both do great food too,” Adam added.

“One of the things I am personally quite excited about is that War Games have agreed to do demonstrations of table-top games, and also give people the opportunity to paint their own miniature with experienced painters.

“On top of this, we are also grateful to the Galactic Troopers who will be attending our event on the day, cosplaying as Star Wars characters and 'patrolling' the queues outside, also checking for any rebels in the venues.”

Also among the cosplayers will be Deadpool, a Warhammer Space Marine and the Green Goblin, plus the East Midlands Ghostbusters Group with their Ecto1 vehicle.

Tattooist Connor Ryan will also be on hand to ink superfans on the day.

Sutton Bridge Comicon will be held on October 14.

Proceeds from the event will also support two charities, Help For Heroes and the Children’s Heart Charity in Lincolnshire.

Tickets are available at Eventbrite via the Sutton Bridge Comicon Facebook page.
