Holbeach woman stole meat from Tesco as benefits were not paid
A Holbeach woman stole joints of meat and wine from her local Tesco store, magistrates at Boston heard.
Helen Houghton,(52), of Marshlands Drive, was already banned from the store before she entered on September 14 at around 3.55pm.
Houghton, who admitted theft, was known to staff who saw her take the property and attempt to leave without paying.
She told police she was desperate because she had not had her benefits.
The magistrates were told she had 20 previous convictions, 16 of them for theft, was subject to a conditional discharge imposed in August.
Magistrates adjourned sentencing until December 21 to tie in with other pending offences.
