Spalding's Ayscoughfee Hall Cafe officially opened by Strictly Come Dancing star and Olympic gymnast Louis Smith

Strictly Come Dancing winner Louis Smith officially opened a revamped popular Spalding cafe at the weekend.

The silver Olympic medal winning gymnast cut the ribbon at Ayscoughfee Hall Cafe during the official ceremony on Saturday.

Owners Ellie Clay and Sarah Hall have been delighted with the response to the new-look cafe, which is now able to cater for more customers.

Ellie said: “The opening went very well. We were really busy with a lot of regular and new customers. A lot had come to see Louis.

“He had come for breakfast along with the other builders.

“We would like to say thank you to Dale Harrison and his team.”

Following an investment by building owners, South Holland District Council, the cafe now has its own toilets.

Under the previous layout, they were limited to five tables but thanks to renovations this has increased to nine.

A new summer themed menu was also launched by the cafe when it reopened last week.

The team are in the process of getting an alcohol licence and have also been given permission to use space on the bowling green in front of the hall.

Ellie and Sarah have described the cafe’s new look as ‘Scandinavian industrial meets country’ and are pleased with the renovations.

The team has built up a strong and popular business since taking over the cafe three years ago.

Mr Smith, who was part of the renovation team, won Strictly in 2012.
