No trains running through Spalding on Monday due to strike action, East Midlands Railway announce
There will be no trains running through Spalding on Monday and Tuesday, East Midlands Railway has warned.
The Lincoln-Peterborough route will not be operating on those days due to industrial action by the UNITE union.
“UNITE members predominantly work in our depots and this affects our ability to provide trains for the days’ service,” an EMR statement read.
“As a result, we will operate a significantly reduced service on Monday 17 and Tuesday 18 October.”
Despite the reduced service in other parts of the region, the Lincoln-Peterborough line - which runs through the town - will not be operating.
George Scott, chairman of the Spalding and Peterborough Transport Forum, has previously called the lack of service ‘disappointing’, especially due to a lack or replacement bus services.
He also added that, due to reduced bus services in the area, local people are becoming more ‘isolated’.
