Lincolnshire Assistant Coroner records verdict of sucide for Deeping St Nicholas greengrocer




A coroner has recorded a verdict of suicide for a greengrocer who died after a collision.

Nigel Varley (54), died on Main Road, Deeping St Nicholas, on December 24, 2022, following a collision with a light goods vehicle.

An inquest in Lincoln on Thursday last week heard that the medical cause of death had been multiple and severe traumatic injuries.

The record of inquest states: “Mr Varley walked in front of the LGV, the driver unable to stop or avoid collision.

“A note was found at his accommodation. On the balance of probability, this was a deliberate act with the intention of taking his life.”

Assistant coroner Lindsay Tasker had recorded a verdict of suicide.
