Turnout gets bigger by the year

There was a big turnout for the Holbeach St Johns summer fete as visitors enjoyed a great day out.

It started with a vintage tractor parade, where 60 tractors in all different shapes, colours and sizes travelled through the village.

The parade was then followed by a big barbecue and also cream teas and cakes were served.

There were lots of stalls with goods from crafts to clothes, which proved popular with visitors and eager buyers.

The dog show was organised by Sam Poole, Mary Bradley and Cathy May.

Lots of different types of dogs competed in different contests, which were eagerly watched by dog lovers.

Keith Welsh had kindly brought along his well-nourished Spotted Eagle Owl.

The owl was a hit with the children who wanted their picture taken with the fascinating animal.

Laddies made record ice cream sales due to the beautiful sunny weather.

Robert Frost has been involved in organising the fete for 20 years.

He said:“We have received so much support from the public on the fete, and the turnout seems to get bigger every year. This is something that encourages us to carry on organising the event.”
