The public consultation for former Pennygate patients will impact on people registered with the town's other two surgeries.

Former Pennygate patient Peter Chapman is urging Munro and Beechfield patients to get involved so they can have a say on the future shape of services.

Among options presented by the CCG is the distribution of the former Pennygate patients to Beechfield and Munro.

Mr Chapman said: "Patients are complaining that they have difficulties in getting appointments now - what would happen if they had to take Pennygate patients on as well?"

The first of five public consultations organised by South Lincolnshire Clinical Commissioning Group (CCG) takes place from 3pm-5pm tomorrow (Wednesday) at the South Holland Centre.

A spokesman for the CCG told us: "We remain very keen to hear the views and/or concerns of all local people around the future of GP services, including those previously registered at Pennygate Health Centre.

"We would encourage everyone to complete our survey - available online or by picking up a paper copy - and/or attend one of our consultation events."

There's an online survey for patients (https://www.surveymonkey.com/r/Pennygate GP) and paper copies can be collected from the Johnson GP Centre at Spalding's Johnson Community Hospital or posted to your home address if you call 01522 573939.

The 90-day consultation on long-term plans for GP practices began on October 1.

Following the retirement of Dr Azmeena Nathu, Pennygate patients were transferred in mid-September to a newly established GP centre at the hospital as an "interim" measure until March 31.

Options in the survey are:

1: GP services to be delivered at the hospital;

2: GP services to be delivered on the west side of Spalding;

3: Main GP services to be delivered at the hospital with some services delivered on the west side of Spalding as a branch surgery;

4a: The (former Pennygate) patient list is distributed and patients registered at the hospital to become registered patients of other local GP practices;

4b: If the (former Pennygate) patient list is distributed to other practices, explore the possibility of establishing a branch surgery on the west side of Spalding;

5: Patients to give their suggestions for providing GP services in the Pennygate area.

Mr Chapman will go to tomorrow's meeting because he wants answers to questions such as: "Where on the west side of Spalding are they proposing to have a GP surgery?"

He says: "The Pennygate Health Centre is not mentioned - but could this be an option?"

l The other CCG Spalding consultation events are: Tuesday, October 30 from 6pm-8pm at St Barnabas Day Centre, 2 Clover Way; Thursday, November 15 from 6pm-8pm at Spalding Primary School, Woolram Wygate; Friday, November 30 from 10am-noon at The Pennygate Foundation, 204 Pennygate; and Friday, December 14 from 2pm-4pm at Johnson Community Hospital's rooms 124 and 125.

* The switch from Pennygate Health Centre sparked a host of complaints about the new service at the hospital, including a lack of flu jabs.
