The death of a Sutton Bridge Golf Club member and his mother from sudden heart attacks led to friends raising £625 for The British Heart Foundation in their honour.

Golfer Peter Warner was just 50 when he sadly lost his life last year, with his mother Judy suffering a similar fate just months later, so the golf club organised a day to ensure the two will be remembered.

Graham Smith, an organiser of the event, said: “We raised the money to buy furniture with Peter’s name, but when his mother died we raised for The British Heart Foundation too.”

Mr Smith presented the money to Gary Burr, from Lincolnshire branch of The British Heart Foundation, at the golf club.

Mr Burr said: “All the money will go towards life-saving research.”
