Castle Swimming Pool closed until at least September 8 as flood damage leaves water unsafe

The Castle Swimming Pool will be closed for at least another week due to flood damage.

The Spalding facility has been closed since August 17, with heavy downpours damaging the building's plant room.

An inspection by South Holland District council officers last week deemed it unsafe to reopen, but there had been hopes it would be back to normal by this week.

However, another inspection today has led to staff being advised that the pool will have to remain shut until next Thursday (September 8) at the earliest.

It is understood that South Lincs Swimming Club, which is preparing for an important competition, is eager for access to the facilities.

Tests to electrics and pumps - as well as water quality assessments - need to be passed successfully before it can reopen.

The Sports Centre remains open as normal.
