Pinchbeck Dog Paddock will be giving pets a safe place to play
A former teacher who is now following her passion for dogs is opening up a new venture which she hopes will set tails wagging.
Sally Grant (35) is looking forward to opening Pinchbeck Dog Paddock to provide a safe and fun environment for owners to exercise their pets.
Mrs Grant, of Frampton, has created a grass paddock, which will be fenced, in North Gate, West Pinchbeck, and is hoping to open shortly.
After working as a primary and secondary school teacher, Mrs Grant was inspired to swap pupils for pups to become a dog trainer.
She said: “When I compare the dogs with teaching children, dogs are happy to see you.
“I used to teach secondary maths so they were never pleased to see me!
“Dogs are always pleased to see and be with you. They provide unconditional love and are so much fun to be with.
“It is important to do something with them whether its obedience, agility or long walks.
“To get the best out of your relationship you have to do something with them.”
Mrs Grant has now received planning permission to create a paddock on land owned by her father, John Grant, after spotting a need for the facility.
She said: “As a trainer I know there are a lot of reasons why some dogs can’t be off the lead in public places.
“They might be unhappy around other dogs or their recall isn’t very good.
“We are going to have a 6ft fence around the paddock and there will be car parking within the field so people can just turn up and open the doors to let their dog free to have a good run.”
Mrs Grant is also planning to place a sandpit and enrichment equipment within the paddock - inspired by her background in agility.
She has taken part in numerous dog agility competitions - including Crufts - with her four Cocker Spaniels.
Mrs Grant, who is married to husband Colin and has a two-year-old daugther Lilia, said: “Dogs are my life.”
She has been delighted with the response from the public to the news that a new dog paddock will be opening in the area.
Mrs Grant said: “The interest has been incredible.
“I now have 820 followers on Facebook.
“I felt that there was a need for it and the positivity has been phenomenal.
“People love their dogs and will do anything for them.”
