Spalding teenager died of natural causes after visiting GP three times in 11 days




A teenager died of natural causes after suffering ‘multi organ failure’, an inquest found.

Holly-May Maxwell sadly passed away at Boston’s Pilgrim Hospital on December 19 last year.

She suffered multi-organ failure after suffering from sepsis, pneumonia, Covid 19, flu and a viral infection.

The 19-year-old, from Spalding, arrived at hospital the previous day after several visits to her doctor.

The inquest stated Holly-May – a dinner lady and taxi support worker – ‘was seen at her GP surgery three times in 11 days on December 5, 15 and 16, eventually taking herself to the local community hospital in Spalding on December 18, where she was immediately referred to A&E at a neighbouring hospital in Boston as a very sick patient.

It added: “The later post mortem recording three very serious and life threatening infections that led to multi-organ failure.”

At the inquest, held at Boston Coroners Court, Coroner Paul Cooper recorded the cause of death to be natural causes.
