Brand new escape rooms arrive in Spalding

Spalding's much-awaited new escape rooms will open on Friday (September 6).

Brett Harman and his partner Hannah Stinson have been busy putting the finishing touches to the new rooms, called Rush Hour Escape Rooms Ltd, which open in Red Lion Street.

Brett (30), who left his role as a teacher at Kirton Middlecott Academy to begin the new venture, says it's been a hectic three months putting the rooms together.

Escape rooms are now a global concept in which participants are given one hour to 'escape' a room by solving a number of puzzles and games.

"We have two, both very immersive, rooms," he explained.

"The first one is called The Infected and you get the feel you are on a hospital ward with zombies coming. That is aimed at a slightly older audience from around 15 years plus.

"The other is the superhero room called Save the World. The superhero theme is very current at the moment and we have plenty of props and it's about having super powers. This is for a wider audience range, more for those from age eight upwards. The puzzles might be a bit difficult for those below the age of eight."

Save the World is aimed at 2-5 players and The Infected for 2-6 players.

"As well as the rooms being for families and friends, we're also looking for the rooms to be played by those on the corporate side, such as as an ice-breaker," Brett added.

The rooms are located above Flowers 'n' Things in Red Lion Street.

Brett and Hannah are big fans of escape rooms, with Brett saying he estimates he's completed about 13 or 14 himself.

The rooms were being trialled by Spalding Ladies Circle on Thursday (Sept 5) to help raise the profile of their charity work.
