Founder of ElysiPhi Medical in Long Sutton hosts Early Breast Aware Clinic as part of Breast Cancer Awareness Month
The owner of a medical aesthetics business hosted a clinic for men and women to raise awareness of breast cancer.
Marie Fuller founded ElysiPhi Medical in Long Sutton when she left the military and uses her skills as a nurse to offer cosmetic treatments and healthcare services.
She hosted an Early Breast Aware Clinic — starting on Wednesday, October, 30 — at her business, which also provides minor surgery, skin cancer screening, chronic skin condition management, menopause support and contraceptive procedures.
Marie said: “I am committed to health promotion and raising awareness and with it just having been Breast Cancer Awareness Month in October, there is no better time to discuss breast health and recognising the importance of early detection.
“Breast cancer rates in the UK remain high, with around one in eight women expected to develop the disease during their lifetime.
“Early diagnosis can significantly improve outcomes and at the clinic patients will have the opportunity to book a breast examination and ultrasound with Dawn, a consultant radiographer.”
This monthly service is available for both men and women, promoting the critical message that regular breast checks can save lives.
Marie revamped her Market Street premises, which used to be a florist, in April and is registered with the Care Quality Commission (CQC).
She uses the experiences from the military to inform her role and understands it can be difficult for women to access information or get second opinions if needed.
Marie said: “I really wanted the clinic about breast awareness to be available in this area.
“We are tucked away here on the Cambridgeshire and Norfolk border and it is important to be able to offer it.
“If someone has a family history and they want to be seen because they are concerned they have the option.”
The clinic will offer advice on the importance of breast checks and Marie can help to refer a GP surgery where necessary.
She added: “These are peace of mind checks and I try to make it approachable and private at the same time.
“All our services are private and we offer different things and lots of interesting treatments looking at it from a holistic point of view.
“When people come in for treatments I address their whole concern and manage expectations.”
It is important to Marie that the clinic is part of the community and she organised a Macmillan Cancer Support coffee morning.
She also attended an informal chat over a cuppa about the menopause organised by Pippa Jones at Pippa’s Pantry in Sutton Bridge.
She said: “It is important for women to get accurate information and advice.
“It is helpful that I have a background in sexual reproductive health and overall health.
“The clinic supports patients with chronic conditions, offering treatments for skin complaints, migraines and excessive sweating,”
She is launching a new laser hair removal service in November for men and women with problematic hair that may be in-growing or causing sweating.
Marie said: “I can help with hair removal for people who may be transitioning for example.
“We use Smart Diode Technology which offers a solution that is safe, effective, and long-lasting.
“This service tailors treatments to help patients feel more comfortable and confident in their skin.”
