Spalding branch of Stamford Animal and Pet Supplies to close

A well-loved pet supplies shop will be closing in May in Spalding.

The town branch of Stamford Animal and Pet Supplies (S.A.P.S) in Westlode Street will shut its doors on May 22 but it has been confirmed the Stamford and Oakham stores will continue to trade as normal.

Their decision comes following a steady decline with high street shopping in general over the last few years and a rise in Internet shopping, the firm explained.

Posting on their Facebook page, S.A.P.S said: "It is with a heavy heart that we wish to inform you that S.A.P.S Spalding will close on May 22, 2021.

"This has been a very difficult decision for us to make and we would like to offer our sincere thanks to all our loyal customers who have supported us over the last 20 years. We would like to confirm that the Stamford and Oakham shops are not affected and will be continuing to trade as normal."

Partner Bev Corby said: "I know our staff have always gone the extra mile to look after our customers and we are saddened and disappointed in having to make this decision."

She added: "We have already had a lot of customers enquiring if we would still be able to offer a delivery service to Spalding. This is something we would obviously like to do and depending on the volume of orders are looking into the possibility of a fortnightly or monthly service."
