Spalding town centre was abuzz with the Christmas spirit as visitors enjoyed a jam packed festive weekend for the lights switch on
A festive market was jam packed at the weekend with shoppers enjoying a town’s seasonal showpiece event.
Spalding was full with festivities – culminating in the switching on of the Christmas lights – on a day organised by the communities team at South Holland District Council.
Santa and his elves were on hand for gift giving on Saturday. While a tombola and games such as hook a duck kept visitors in the spirit while they hunted for unique gifts among the stalls.
A spokesman for the council said: “Thank you to everyone who turned out on such a chilly day and supported this community event.”
As well as independent traders showcasing their talents, stallholders also supported charities including Mencap, British Lung Foundation and Ella’s Project.
Visitors could take part in making baubles at St Mary’s and St Nicolas parish church with donations of bread from David Wood Baking.
Entertainment was also provided by the Holbeach Town Band and a fancy dress competition added to the build up to Christmas.
Twins Matty and Izzy Goble (7) won the fancy dress and were invited to help with the all-important lights switch on.
