Style Roses of Holbeach is set to feature on BBC Escape to the Country show

A town horticulture nursery will be featured on a national television programme.

Style Roses is a specialist business based in Holbeach which was established in 1999 and was approached by BBC’s Escape to the Country as part of the programme’s visit to the county.

Co partners of the business Chris and Margaret Styles enjoyed showing presenter Sonali Shah the colourful fields and nursery - where they grow more than 400 different varieties of roses.

Chris, who has worked in the industry for 40 years said: “Sonali Shah was lovely, she was very easy to talk to and was very interested in roses herself. - It was a nice day.

“We have previously been on Gardeners World before as we had a display at the Hampton Court Flower Show. That was quite nerve wracking as there wasn’t a presenter asking us questions. This occasion was a much more joyful experience.

“On the day we told her all about the rose budding process, how to propagate the plants, deadheading in the garden, different tips and Margaret even showed her we wrap and send our roses off to the buyers.”

Chris explained that the BBC show found the business by looking on Facebook. He said: “They told us they were looking for something different to do in Lincolnshire and they liked all of our pictures of the roses.

“There are a few rose growers in the area so we did feel privileged to have shown them around, it was an honour.”

The house hunting show involves showing home buyers a selection of properties in the country along with activities and attractions which tell them a bit more about the area.
