Long Sutton on song with new community choir

A new community choir recently launched in Long Sutton - and has already had a brilliant turnout.

Professional singer Bethanie Newman (27) started up ‘Choir Time’ in the beginning of April this year.

The group runs every Wednesday, apart from the last of every month, at the Market House in Long Sutton between 7pm and 8pm.

After noticing a demand and gap in the community for a local choir group, Bethanie took it upon herself to create her own.

Following her love and passion for singing, Bethanie decided to pursue it as a career option and her passion continued to grow.

She went on to study for four years and after graduating from SLP College Leeds, found a job as a cruise ship entertainer – which was sadly cut short due to Covid – 19.

Bethanie said: “Singing is great for the soul.

“It makes you feel great and is a great opportunity to step outside your comfort zone, make new friends and have fun along the way.”

She added: “ The group is going really well – there has been a really good turnout.

“We’ve been averaging around 25 people each week which is amazing.”

A Choir Time Facebook group allows attendees to request future songs and recommendations.

All ages and and abilities are welcome and under 16s must be accompanied by an adult.

It costs £5 a session and is pay as you go.

Booking is not required. For more information or enquires send and email to bethanienewmanvocalist@hotmail.com.
