Holbeach tractor run raises £1,300 for charity

More than 50 tractors took to the roads in South Holland to raise £1,316 for charity.

The fourth annual charity tractor road run, organised by Holbeach Marsh Vintage Tractor Events, attracted 53 tractors of all makes and models, with the oldest dating to 1947 and the youngest to 2019!

Stephen Pearsall, one of the organisers, said: "This is the fourth time we have done the run with the support of Hargraves Agricultural, which is based at Fleet Road Industrial Estate in Holbeach, where we start and finish the run.

"We try to do a different route each year. This year we headed to Throckenholt, Whaplode Drove and Thorney, where we saw the wind turbine farm."

He said the success of the event was due to Hargraves Agricultural, all those who took part and supported the event, those who help sort the route and acted as marshals and Richard Grundy, who allowed the tractors to park in his yard at the half-way point and drivers to use the toilets.

"We are grateful to everyone who supported us, but particularly Hargraves Agricultural for the use of their premises and the prizes they donated, and to Richard Grundy.

"The tractors came from a wide area, including Bourne and Pinchbeck. We even had one from Norwich."

The British Heart Foundation, which will received the funds raised at the event, had a stall and those taking part in the road run enjoyed refreshments including bacon butties, burgers, tea and coffee.

Holbeach Marsh Tractor Events publicises its events through local agricultural agents and shops and on its Facebook page.

Its next event is a Working Weekend and Ploughing Match which will take place in Holbeach St Marks over an October weekend to be confirmed.
