Moulton Seas End's Naylor Flowers wants to celebrate 75th anniversary with vintage tractor run - and is calling for help
A family run farm which celebrates its 75th anniversary this year is appealing for vintage tractor owners to come forward to take part in a special event to honour the occasion.
Naylor Flowers, of Moulton Seas End, is marking the milestone by hosting a vintage tractor run featuring a vehicle made in every year since 1948, when the business first began.
Managing director and third generation farmer Matt Naylor said the run will form the centre piece of events on Sunday, June 11, when the farm opens its gates to visitors as part of the popular LEAF Open Farm Sunday initiative.
“My grandfather Kenneth bought his first plot of land – four acres – back in 1948,” said Matt, who runs the 600-acre farm in partnership with his cousin Chris Edgley.
“To mark the occasion, we came up with the idea of hosting a tractor run with a difference, featuring one vehicle from every year since the farm started 75 years ago, through to the current day.
“We’ve had a good response so far but are looking for more people to take part so that we can make sure it’s a real celebration of farming families and the people who work in the industry.”
Naylor Flowers grows a wide variety of British flowers – more than 100million stems annually - which are supplied to supermarkets across the UK and Europe.
These include daffodils, sunflowers, sweet Williams and delphiniums.
As well as the tractor run, with the vintage vehicles going on display to the public afterwards, the open event will also include tractor and trailer rides around the farm and flower arranging workshops.
Refreshments will also be available.
