Hall Gate Cemetery, Holbeach, has seen the planting of trees donated by the Woodland Trust.

Further improvements have been made to Holbeach's Hall Gate cemetery after a tree planting exercise on Sunday.

Members of Holbeach Parish Council planted trees donated by the Woodland Trust, following on from the opening of a memorial wall and garden at the site in April.

Coun Carol Rudkin, vice chairman of the council's cemeteries committee, said: "Hall Gate Cemetery has really come a long way since it opened in 2009 and I'm glad to have been a part of making that happen as a volunteer for Holbeach in Bloom.

"We do all kinds of work like this across Holbeach and so to get the support of the parish council in planting more trees at the cemetery will help people to make the most of nature.

"This is especially so given all the development that is currently going on around the cemetery."

Other recent additions to the cemetery have included a rose garden and a paved area for the scattering of ashes.

Improvements have also been made to a road leading to the site after the parish council asked several Holbeach businesses for help.
