Tribute paid to Spalding publican
Tribute has been paid to a ‘larger than life’ publican who has died recently.
Stephen Moore, who ran several Spalding pubs throughout his life, passed away earlier this month aged 64.
Mr Moore had most recently taken on The Moorings Pub on Commercial Road, but had also run The White Horse and The Ship Albion.
Stuart Brotherton, a former Spalding police officer and organiser of the town’s Pubwatch scheme, knew Mr Moore well.
He said: “I am very saddened by his death,
“He was a larger than life character and always had a warm, welcoming personality.
“Coming from Hull, he was never afraid to say what he thought of you in that typical Hull way either.
“He was both a customer and a friend of mine and it is a shame he has been taken away so soon.
“I had got to know him when he first took on the White Horse but after that he went to the Ship Albion before his family bought The Moorings.
“He will be sadly missed.”
Mr Moore leaves behind his wife Jill, children Alex, Ryan and Kier, along with his grandchildren.
A service is due to be held at Spalding Crematorium on Friday, February 3, at 11am.
